TSA is affiliated with the American Cancer Society and the TSA State officers have conducted a “Pennies for Pie” fundraiser the last few years in order to make a donation to ACS.  This year we want to step up our efforts and let TSA members show their true character and raise ten times more money than was collected last year.  So here is the deal.  We donated $350 last year so I have challenged the officers and the members to collect $3,500 this year.  If they do so Papa Smurf will dye his beard blue and keep it blue for at least 6 months.  I started my beard on November 1, so it will be 6 months of growth at conference time.  Sadly it looks more like Papa Smurf’s every day and it has a lot of white/gray in it anymore.  So it should make for a bright TSA blue when dyed.

The changes to “Pennies for Pie” are as follows.

First, we will be collecting chapter donations for ACS from your local chapter fundraising efforts.  The chapter that donates the most money wins the opportunity to choose who will have the pleasure of putting a cream pie in the face of one of the state officers.  Those checks should be made out to Alabama TSA and should be earmarked for ACS Pennies or Pie.  These will be collected during registration.

The second part of “Pennies for Pie” are the voting buckets of each state officer.  We thought we would make that process more fun and hopefully raise a larger donation by doing the following.  Coins will count as positive votes for an officer and paper bills count as negative votes.  The idea overall is to stuff several of the buckets with as much money as possible.

Then to cap off our evening entertainment we will suit up a chapter member from the winning chapter and the officer with the most positive votes and deliver a big sloppy lie to the face.

Remember, if our total monies collected is $3,500 or greater.  I (Papa Smurf) will see a local high school cosmetology program and have my now flowing beard dyed Royal Blue/TSA Blue/Smurf Blue.
